By now, you’ve probably heard that a Microsoft price increase is coming in March 2022. But did you realise that this is the first one of its kind in the last 10 years?Â
Since the first significant price rise for commercial users at the launch of Office 365 in June 2011, the last decade has given us huge changes to the Microsoft platform. It has evolved from what was effectively a set of programmes for word-processing, data-crunching, email-sending, and slide-presenting, into the powerful integrated software suite that is Microsoft 365 today.
The value of that array of Microsoft productivity and communications products and capabilities has been specifically designed to meet the needs of businesses, an evolution that now brings us to Microsoft’s New Commerce Experience (NCE)…
The evolution to a New Commerce ExperienceÂ
The NCE will bring with it a new pricing structure for commercial users that means the cost of Microsoft 365 is going up. But with that, you get additional features and make savings the longer you commit to your subscription.Â

The price freeze was never going to last forever, and we have to admit that we’ve had it pretty good for quite a while now! So, over the next few months we are looking at how we can make the best of the news. After all, we believe that Microsoft 365 can continue to be the most cost-effective way for businesses to work productively, securely, and collaboratively. The key will be for organisations to maximise on the valuable tools available under your Microsoft licence.Â
For example, you can immediately make net cost-savings when you stop paying for tools like Trello, Monday.com, and Project, in favour of using Microsoft Planner instead. And similarly, organisations can modernise services and improve operating and cost efficiency with Apps; ranging from getting more familiar with the “off the shelf” Microsoft essentials, to employing customised Apps like the Council App Suite we’ve been collaborating on with local authorities around the country.Â
